Thank you for your interest in Barbara White Seminars. Massage is a wonderfully rewarding career for those with a love for helping others. Massage as a career, and its recognition among other health care professionals, has grown tremendously in recent years. Your knowledge or lack of knowledge makes a vital impression on our patrons as well as the other health care professionals in our communities. Our seminars provide a superior education in one of the fastest growing health-care fields today. Stand out above the rest and make a good impression for our profession.
My mission is to train masterfully skilled therapists by providing superior education with a challenging, thorough curriculum; proper working tools; a caring, professional staff; and a positive, supportive environment. At Barbara White Seminars, I am dedicated to "Raising the Standards in Massage Education." My aim is to elevate the level of therapeutic knowledge and safe practice for all Massage Therapists.

The objectives of Barbara White Seminars is to teach a comprehensive understanding of the structure and function of the human body and to develop proficiency and confidence in the manipulation of soft tissue and application of Spa modalities. The seminars will teach the understanding of the benefits, effects, and limitations of massage therapy and the judgment necessary to refer clients to other professional health care practitioners when appropriate. The seminars will also teach an understanding of self-care, including proper movement during massage for safety and injury prevention.

Barbara G. White is an approved Continuing Education Provider by the Louisiana State Board of Massage Therapy. LBMT requires each class to be approved individually. Classes that have been submitted for LA approval for the 2012 year are indicated on the posted schedule. (LA CE Provider # LAP0136) | |
The State of Texas requires all therapists to take a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education for a two year license renewal. NCBTMB requires 48 hours of continuing education over 4 years for renewal, of which 6 hours must be in the area of Ethics, Standards & Boundaries.

Barbara is proud to offer professional continuing education classes with a personal atmosphere. Each class is packed with a comprehensive curriculum and skilled hands on instruction. Your learning experience doesn't end when the seminar is over. All students have an invitation for questions and support whenever it is needed. Barbara White Seminars continuing education workshops are approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services and the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodyworks.
I have been teaching Continuing Education courses since 2002 and ran a fully licensed Massage School until 2008 when it was closed due to a rash of hurricanes. Currently, I run a very busy therapeutic massage practice in my private studio and teach continuing education classes as Barbara White Seminars.
Studio workshops are small usually 2-4 students in my private studio. The course content is full and detailed but the environment is layed back and private. No large groups. Weather permitting, pool-side classes are offered with maximum enrollment of 10 colleagues.
A studio workshop can turn into a conference workshop if enrollment greatly exceeds the size of my studio. Any enrollment occuring above & beyond 4 will be temporarily placed on a waiting list until size is confirmed to be large enough and all initial enrollments have been notified of additional interest. If the first enrolled students object to changing course style to a conference workshop enrollment will be capped. In this event an additional class may be added to the schedule to accomodate the overflow. All students will be notified of the class status at enrollment and updated accordingly.
It is important to me that your wishes be heard. Please don't remain silent.
Conference Workshops are held in conference rooms within the community and usually won't enroll more than 15 students. These classes will be conducted slightly more formally but still hold many qualities of the studio workshops. My studio just isn't that big....Frequently the same courses will be offered for both studio and conference workshops. The same class style upgrade procedures will apply to conference workshops as well as changes to move the workshop back to my studio if enrollment is not sufficient. I will enroll a class with as little as 2 students but only in my studio. Please keep me notified if you do not wish for a studio style class.
Seminars must enroll a minimum of 20 students and will be held as a fun formal seminar. Usually these classes are located in larger cities and are longer full-throttle classes. These seminars are for the true professional who wants the most out of their career and are part of a series such as Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release, and Spa Certification. Once all courses in the series are completed a certification is awarded to the professional. Incentives are offered for enrollment in a whole series.
Home Study Courses are now available. These courses are approved for continuing education credit by both the State of Texas Department of State Health Services, and the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork. To Purchase a Home Study course, just click on the PayPal "Pay Now" button for your prefered class. Course materials will be e-mailed or mailed to your shipping address upon confirmation of payment. Once you complete the class, return the enclosed test to Barbara White Seminars, and a Certificate of Completion and transcript will be delivered to you.
Academy for the Healing Arts closed in September 2008 as a result of hurricanes and has not re-opened. You can find a solid start in this amazing career at Louisiana Institute of Massage Therapy in Lake Charles, LA. Located just 45 minutes commute from Beaumont, Texas, LIMT is owned and operated by Susan Salvo, author of Massage Principles & Practices and exhibits the utmost integrity. Hours from this school are accepted by Texas Department of State Health Services. All schools are not created equally, do your homework before you select a school!
